The new prayer hall stands, and construction at Lama Camp No. 2 continues. Still needed: the holy statues, the HH Dalai Lama throne and assembly seating — and the windows, doors and hostel rooms of the new buildings.
Each statue may be sponsored in whole or in part. Every sponsor is remembered in the monastery's prayers and book of donors.
Partial contributions of any amount are equally welcome — toward a specific statue, the throne, the seating, the windows, the hostel room, or the general completion fund.
The newly completed Main Prayer Hall and monks’ residence in Mundgod — now awaiting its sacred statues, the throne, and assembly seating.
Work on the monastery's new buildings at Lama Camp No. 2 is in full swing — columns, slabs and brickwork rising by hand, day by day. These buildings are what the windows, doors and hostel-room sponsorships will complete.
Drepung Loseling Tsangpa Khangtsen, at Lama Camp No. 2, Tibetan Colony, Mundgod, Karnataka, India, has completed the construction of its new Main Prayer Hall and monks' residence — led by Venerable Geshe Thubten Tendar — through the generosity of devoted benefactors.
As the building reaches its final phase, the prayer hall must be prepared for consecration. This requires the sacred statues, the throne of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and seating for the assembly — without which the hall cannot properly function for daily prayers, teachings, debate, and ceremony.
To ensure the highest traditional craftsmanship, the statues have been commissioned from experienced artisans in Nepal (Nilendra Handicraft, Reg. 610860852). The Buddhist scriptures praise the immeasurable merit of helping to establish sacred images of the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha — a lasting cause of well-being for the donor, their family, and all sentient beings.
Meanwhile, construction at Lama Camp No. 2 continues. The new buildings now need their uPVC windows and doors — 168 windows, 56 louvres and 56 washroom doors, quoted at ₹37,35,648 by Novoteq Fenestra Systems — and the new hostel needs its rooms: one full room costs ₹8,23,602 by the monastery's signed estimate. A sponsor of a window, a door, or a whole room becomes part of the monastery's story for generations.
Full itemised quotations and reference photographs of each statue are available on request.
Sponsoring a sacred statue — in whole or in part — is an offering of lasting merit, present for every prayer in the hall for generations to come.
